The Asahi Shimbun Group as a whole is developing the "Dementia Friendly Project. In the midst of a super-aging society, this project is promoting the creation of a society where the dignity of people with dementia is protected and
they can live in their familiar towns with peace of mind as before. The "Dementia Friendly Lecture" is a part of these activities, and was launched in April 2019 as a face-to-face on-site lecture. It provides an opportunity for people
to deepen their understanding of dementia and think about a society where people with dementia can live together. In the newspaper, we have started a series of articles on "The Person's Thoughts," in which people with dementia talk
about their own thoughts. We also hold symposiums and events on the theme of dementia. We have also launched the dementia web media "Nakamaru" and are developing "Dementia Friendly Kids Classes" for elementary school students at the
Asahi Shimbun Welfare Culture Foundation.
What is important in the project is to be close to the "thoughts of the person".
This project is in line with the philosophy of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) proposed by the United Nations, "Leave no one behind," and aims to meet the goals of SDGs 3 (Health and well-being for all), 4 (Quality education for all), 11 (Building communities where people can continue to live), and 17 (Achieving the goals through partnership). These activities are in line with the SDGs.

Experiential" courses that utilize interviews
with the individual and VR
Using interviews with people with dementia and virtual reality (VR) technology, the Asahi Shimbun has developed original content that allows people to learn about the thoughts and ideas of people with dementia and simulate the world
as they see it. The course program is designed to make even those who are not familiar with dementia feel that it is their own affair. Why don't you join us and think about what a "symbiotic society" where people with dementia live
together means?
The course is not a one-way listening session, but an "experiential" one. Watching interviews with the participants and experiencing VR are important parts of the course. Through the entire lecture, you will gain a new awareness and
understanding of dementia.
The course is designed to be taken by a group of people, and is used for employee training and courses for customers of companies whose customers are mainly seniors, awareness-raising events for local residents organized by local
governments, staff training at nursing and medical facilities, and classes at educational institutions that train care workers and nurses. In addition to full-package courses with instructors, we also offer "Dementia VR Experience
Sessions" focusing on the Asahi Shimbun Dementia VR.
We hope that you will spend some time thinking about a "dementia-friendly society" where people with dementia are cared for, supported, and live together.

Course content and schedule
The course will be conducted in an easy-to-understand manner using interviews with the individual, viewing of explanations by medical specialists, and VR experience. The duration of the course is 90-120 minutes. The duration of the course is 90-120 minutes, and can be set according to your request. Experience the perspective of a people with dementia
Go down the stairs［2 minutes and 19 seconds］
The cognitive ability to grasp space, for example, is reduced, and the sensation that steps are difficult to descend can be seen. We can understand part of the reason why people with cognitive decline hesitate to go down steps.
I see visions.［2 minutes 05 seconds］
It reproduces the hallucinations that are said to be characteristic mainly of dementia with Lewy bodies. You can feel the situation where you can see visions of children, which is considered to be relatively common.
Driving a car［2 minutes 46 seconds］
This simulates the driving situation of a person with reduced cognitive function. As the distance between the car and the driver becomes difficult to discern, the driver is at a loss when driving at intersections and almost crashes into a car. You can also e xperience the momentary loss of consciousness caused by epilepsy in the elderly, which can also occur in elderly people with cognitive decline.
Live and on-demand streaming
The course is also available online. The online lecture will be delivered by the lecturer with video interviews with the people with dementia, explanations by medical specialists, and mini movies depicting the daily life of a family with
a parent with dementia.

Live streaming for companies, local governments, schools and other organizations can be viewed on "YouTube Live". The instructor will deliver the lecture online remotely at the time you specify. The standard duration of the lecture is 90
minutes, but the time and content can be discussed upon request. Q&A sessions are also available via chat.

On-demand delivery is also available for viewing recorded lectures at any time. This service is available not only for groups, but also for individual students.

People with dementia
It talks about the symptoms of dementia and what kind of problems one may encounter. It describes in concrete terms the difficulties encountered in daily life. The author's thoughts and feelings are conveyed straight from the heart.
People with dementia
How do you want the people around you to treat you? What do you want your family to be like? What kind of society do you want to live in? There are many hints that only the speaker can give.
People with dementia
Mr. Matsuura says that music is his reason for living. Dementia can cause a variety of symptoms. Visual hallucinations and illusions are among the symptoms that tend to appear in the early stages of dementia with Lewy bodies. In this interview, Mr. Matsuura talks frankly about the symptoms that are difficult to understand, along with his own thoughts.
People with dementia
The Japan Dementia Working Group (JDWG), of which Ms. Fujita is a representative, has been working to create a society where people can continue to live with hope and dignity even after they have dementia, and released the "Declaration of Hope for Living with Dementia" in November 2018. We ask her to share her thoughts as a people with dementia, and how she builds relationships with her family and others as a mother and former nurse.

- Venue
- We will visit the venue you specify. Please prepare a suitable location for the lecture.

- Lecture Time
- The course will provide a 90-120 minute program that includes a VR experience. The content can be customized to some extent according to your needs.

- The number of participants may exceed the number of headsets in the price list below. However, the maximum number of participants for the "Up to 30 Headsets Plan" is 60, and the maximum number of participants for the "31-40 Headsets Plan" is 80. Please note that the course time will be extended accordingly.

■VR Experience Session (Event Dispatch) Package Price List
We will conduct "VR Experience Sessions" at various events. One facilitator will be dispatched along with 10 headsets. Each trial session lasts about 50 minutes and can be held up to 6 times per day with a maximum of 10 participants per session. There will be 10 minutes of preparation time between sessions. The facilitator will guide and facilitate the participants to watch the recorded interviews with the person (for two people) and experience VR (for three people).
